Personal Injury: $50,000 Recovery For Pedestrian
Lewis sustained orthopedic injuries when struck by an automobile in Asheboro, North Carolina. This case presented several primary issues. First, evidence existed that our client may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. Our client had several prior alcohol-related convictions. Second, our client had an extensive prior medical history. Given the severity of his injuries, this prior medical history presented a real potential issue regarding medical causation for certain components of the case. Third, North Carolina is one of the few remaining state to enforce the law of contributory negligence. Given the prior-noted evidence, we faced a real issue establishing liability. Finally, we confirmed a lack of available insurance to cover the damages.
I worked extensively on this case to minimize the above-noted issues. We were ultimately able to recover $50,000 for our client. Given the various issues Lewis' case presented, we were quite pleased with the outcome.
