$85,000 Recovery For Injured State Employee

July 2019

Every case is different: every client is unique, different issues are presented, and some cases are more complex.  In 2018, another lawyer called me to refer Brent's case.  Simply stated, he said he wasn't comfortable handling the case given everything involved.  I sat down for a long consultation with Brent and his wife.  I discovered his case involved numerous complex issues.  The case was complicated by the fact Brent had proceeded with a lawyer for quite some time.  I can always help an individual; I just can't always undo things done prior to my representation.  This is the reason I advise people it's so critical to get a free consultation immediately to at least understand your options.

I carefully evaluated Brent's complex case.  We broke it down into understandable pieces so he / his family could really understand things.  I walked them through step by step as I got to work.  We worked to address the fears / concerns for Brent.  I did everything possible to ensure he felt comfortable: we discussed things, talked via phone, emailed, met in person, and reviewed when needed.

A lot of background work needed to be done properly to allow a proper negotiation in Brent's case.  Once I did all that work, I was able to really talk with my client about the proper expectations for his case.  We discussed all of his questions, frustrations, etc.  We made sure he was ready to proceed.  At the appropriate time, we were able to reach a very favorable result for Brent.  Yes, I do wish I could have obtained more money for my client.  However, I carefully negotiated an extremely good result under the applicable law that really maximized the amount in his pocket.  We fought for every nickel, just as we always do.
