Driving After Consuming Alcohol Under 21
Spencer was charged with Driving After Consuming Alcohol Under 21 in Charlotte, North Carolina after he encountered a DWI checkpoint. I carefully explained to Spencer the similarities this charge has with a DWI, while also explaining the significant differences in the two charges.
I initially obtained the DWI checkpoint documentation, and I analyzed the materials. I met with Spencer and his parents to explain his options for the case. We discussed the pros / cons of the different approaches. I made sure our client made an educated decision regarding his case.
Spencer ultimately elected to proceed with a plea in this matter. We reached this decision after careful consideration of all the evidence in Spencer's case, and we then executed a plan to obtain a favorable ruling from the Court. The Court granted a Prayer For Judgment Continued (PJC) upon my request. The significance of obtaining this ruling is that it avoided the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles' (NCDMV) one-year suspension of Spencer's license.
I was very pleased to obtain this solid result for such a solid young man. This result allowed Spencer to accept responsibility for his action and move forward in a positive manner with his educational and personal goals.
